Academics

Inspiring a passion for learning. Korea International School is one of the world’s leading college preparatory schools. Our school serves a diverse community of exceptional PK-12 students from more than 30 countries.

Our high-quality teachers create a learning environment where students try new things, build confidence, and learn skills that drive academic and personal growth. Every KIS student becomes a critical thinker and collaborator.

We guarantee an academically rigorous environment that will open doors to leading universities and fulfilling careers.

Learning is an act of inquiry that challenges an individual to think critically. Walk into a KIS classroom and you see engaged learners who are having fun, asking questions, creating, and exploring various possibilities.

Our youngest learners experience a child-centered, play-based program that celebrates and guides curiosity based on the Reggio Emilia approach. Elementary schoolers practice community, autonomy, and resilience in a student-centered environment that builds fundamental skills while fueling their natural curiosity for discovering the world around them.

Teaching and Learning at KIS

KIS teachers are learners too. Routine collaboration aligns grade level and subject area curriculum and assessment practices – and encourages multigrade, multidisciplinary connections that benefit students.

Our teaching and learning team provides opportunities for staff to refine their craft, including through instructional coaching. Edtech coaches also work with teachers to purposefully integrate technology and find solutions to technology questions.

KIS empowers staff professional growth. Academic staff receive 100 hours of professional development each school year with additional support to attend conferences and pursue certifications and degrees.
