Headmaster's Welcome
We want our school to represent the best that Korea has to offer, but also that our students come to understand the world in which we live – socially, economically, culturally, and linguistically. Our students reach out to the world, learn about its peoples and ways, and will continue to do so, embracing an inclusionary rather than an exclusionary vision of humanity.
Dear Friends of KIS,
Thank you for visiting the Korea International School (KIS) website. KIS stands at the forefront of international education in Korea. KIS education emphasizes inquiry, critical thinking, creativity, well-being, respect for others, and integrity in all things. We hold our students to the highest standards of scholarship, personal development, and citizenship. Our students represent the promise of what the youth bring to the future.
We want to ensure that our graduates gain admission to the finest, most selective universities in the world. To do that we will strive to continually raise our standards for admissions, for recruiting academic staff and administration, and for student performance.
We believe that a diverse school environment and curriculum are important for our students’ success as global citizens who embrace an inclusive vision of humanity. Our community welcomes students from a range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
KIS is proud of its educational relationships around the world. Our collaboration with MISTI – the global experience and internship program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology – allows KIS middle school and high school students to do hands-on STEM workshops taught by MIT students.
Additionally, our partnership with the World Leading Schools Association (WLSA) further expands our global network by offering international exchange programs to Shanghai, global student conferences, and exclusive college fairs.
We want our school to represent the best that Korea has to offer and we want our students to represent the values of KIS wherever they go next. We expect our students to reach educational and professional spaces around the world with social, economic, cultural, and linguistic knowledge and wisdom.
I judge our success by the degree to which we accomplish these goals. I ask that you, as a member of our broad education community, hold us accountable as we guide KIS on its course toward meeting its purpose and its destiny.
