March 17, 2017
Dear KIS parents,
We would like to take this opportunity to express our deep appreciation to our students and parents for the support that makes Korea International School such an outstanding educational choice. The other purpose of this letter is to announce our tuition rates for the 2017-18 school year. Over the past years, there were minimal increases to cover our operational costs, and for this coming year, we have decided to freeze the tuition for all grade levels; next year’s tuition level will be the same as this year.
Tuition Rate History:
2014-15 school year 2.9% increase in tuition
2015-16 school year 0% increase in tuition
2016-17 school year less than 1% increase for secondary only
2017-18 school year 0% increase in tuition
We are holding tuition rates down once more because of the slowly recovering economy and the impact of that on many of our families. However, this decision will not undermine our efforts to provide superb education for our students; we have offered a more competitive and improved compensation package for our faculty to show our commitment to retain and to hire highly qualified teachers for our school. We will also continue to improve our high quality programs including core curriculum, robotics, STEM, world languages, music, and experiential education, as well as other specialized subjects.
Needless to say, we intend to maintain our high quality standards and improve other services. For example, we are planning for our college counseling department to be available more hours during the break to support family needs and we plan to send our counselors to specialized conferences for advanced training. We also have plans to improve our facilities including cafeteria renovation during the spring break as well as this coming summer. We hope to also improve some specialized classroom spaces this summer. As for expansion of our classroom space, although it cannot happen this summer, we intend to add additional instructional space in our Elementary and Middle School buildings in the years to come.
For students who will be riding the KIS School bus, there will be a yearly increase of 100,000 won to cover for inflationary costs for busing operation.
We appreciate your commitment to KIS and want to assure you that we will be continuing to make KIS a better school for as long as your children are our students.
Please refer to the tuition chart enclosed with this letter. Of special note, this year, we have an individualized personal bank account number to make it easy for parents to pay for your child’s tuition to KIS.
